My original plan for CinemaCon was to do a newsletter each day, rounding up all the studios who had done presentations and my reactions to the news and clips they had revealed. But ultimately, my final schedule through the week, especially some freelance work I was doing at the convention, just wouldn’t allow for that and now, a few days later, it feels a bit stale to be still talking about Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s title reveal.

At this point, you likely have seen the biggest news from CinemaCon — including Sony’s ambitious plan to release four Beatles movies in the same month, Lionsgate ordering a ton of new John Wick-connected movies, and Universal announcing a sequel to the live-action How to Train Your Dragon even before the first one opens — along with the handful of footage debuts and trailers that debuted there that were also then released online, including for Superman, M3GAN 2.0 and The Naked Gun (my god, that OJ joke is amazing…)

So instead, I want to give some love to movies I had minimal awareness of going into CinemaCon that quickly became titles I’m excited to see thanks to what was shown during the presentations. These are films that likely won’t get the pre-release hype of a new MCU, Mortal Kombat, or Hunger Games franchise film, but still debuted exclusive footage that had me especially intrigued for what the end result might be.
